Hello, all! Are you ready for the next instalment (seriously auto-correct, instalment only has one l in it? ... are you sure? strange. anyways ...) in my floral inspired summer makeup series? I actually was planning to do this look already when I got a few requests for an iris inspired look, so it was very serendipitous indeed. The previous two looks I did were very dark and/or edgy so this time I tried something a little lighter and more playful. This silvery look has a subtle purple cut crease and a fun green accent along the waterline plus totally flirty crystal lashes from FAUX which I absolutely love. You can see all the products I used in the tutorial at the end of the post but for now you can enjoy some pretty pictures:
And here's the tutorial so you can see what products I used to get this really pretty floral look. Enjoy!

So, a while ago I thought about doing a series where I would just recreate looks by my favorite beauty bloggers. Well, I never got around to doing a full series but I still do love to try my hand at looks done by ladies whose work I really admire. One of those talented artists runs the blog Jangsara. I've had her peacock inspired tutorial on my to do list forever and I finally got around to it.
I didn't have any of the products she used so I made a lot of substitutions. I still think it turned out nice, just really different. Mine definitely has a stronger copper presence in it, but I like that because it makes the blue in my eyes stand out. I paired it with some fabulous Bianca Lashes from FAUX ... as usual. Woops!
I honestly didn't know what to do for the face with this look and I'm not crazy about the lipstick I settled on, but oh well. You win some, you lose some. Any suggestions for what lip color(s) would better complement these eyes?
Here's the look that inspired my recreation if you're at all interested in the comparison. Jangsara's was done with mostly MAC pigments while mine was done almost entirely with Makeup Geek shadows (surprise, surprise, I know!). I definitely got carried away with the color in mine (subtlety has never been my strong suit) and I still prefer hers by leaps and bounds but I have a long way to go before I reach her league of talent so I'm not too embarrassed by my version.
Somehow that became .... that. I guess in the end that's why I settled on an 'inspired by' rather than a recreation of because by the end of it I'd really made the look my own. But full credit to Jangsara for getting my creative juices going. Always fun to pay homage to your idols.

It's been a really long time since I created a look just for fun, but I've been playing around with my brand new Makeup Geek pigments a lot lately and they've been so inspiring. I wasn't sure where I was going with this particular look but after it was done I thought it kind of reminded me of a dandelion. Whenever I'm bored with my looks, I love finding inspiration in flowers (Dandelions are flowers too, guys, just not very popular ones, lol). Then I thought, why not turn it into a mini series, which I also haven't done in a while. So be on the lookout for more flower inspired looks this summer!
Instead of putting all the color on the lid and doing a smokey black waterline, I tried to do something different than my usual by reversing the two. I have to say, I really love how this turned out. I don't know how wearable it is, but I think it's really beautiful.
These fabulous lashes are the Vixen lashes from FAUX lash. L.O.V.E. them! So much drama & elegance!
Don't you just love that liquid gold highlight on the inner corner!? It's so silky and easy to work with and it has (obviously) amazing color payoff. Check out the tutorial below to see it foiled in real time.
Obviously I photoshopped my eye to an amber brown that I think best suits this look, but here's how it looks with my regular blue eyes. Still beautiful, just not as much contrast.
If you like this look and want to try it out for yourself, here's the tutorial with the full list of products & steps. Enjoy!
And finally, I decided to put together an outfit to wear this with so I grabbed a gorgeous blouse that I've had for years that I got from H&M. To pull from the gold on the eyes, I paired it with this beautiful, ornate necklace that I got from Christmas this year and these adorable lace shorts from ZLZ that are perfect for summer.
I hope you loved this look and are as excited as I am to continue the series. Check back later this week for another look inspired by roses! xoxo, Meredith Jessica
I absolutely love white for summertime! It looks so sharp & stylish, and you can wear it with any of your summertime brights. I especially love it paired with these neon pumps & technicolored tank top. Finishing off the look is a badass pair of leather shorts that balance out the busy palette and make your legs look extra long. I absolutely can't wait for an excuse to wear this out!
The soft cotton material makes this blazer breathable and relaxed, so you can easily wear this as a light evening jacket without looking too dressy or formal if that's not the look you're going for.
And because this outfit dares to be bold, I had to go all out with dramatic fuchsia eye look to match.
This blazer retails for $45 and ships internationally from www.zlz.com. It comes in white as well as this gorgeous peachy color. It's super comfortable, well made and best of all it looks great! Plus a white blazer will never go out of style - so consider it a stylish investment.
My final thoughts? I loved this blazer so much that I immediately ordered two other items from ZLZ, and I'm so thrilled with those as well. Everything fits perfectly and looks great. I'm definitely going to be shopping there again and I absolutely recommend that you check out their adorable collection of products. There's something for everyone! Happy summer shopping! xoxo, Meredith Jessica
I had a special request from a follower of mine to put together a simple purple look that she could recreate for her prom. Prom can get super expensive so saving money on makeup means more cash that you can put towards other indulgences instead like accessories, limos, or that gorgeous dress you have your eye on. Anyways, here's what I put together for Nicole - enjoy!
And for those who like to see how this look might look with their eye color, here are some photoshop edits to show you how it will look on brown & green eyes. I think it looks super gorgeous against a brown eye.
If you ever have a request of your own, send an e-mail to pigmentsandpalettes@gmail.com and I'll be happy to try! xo, Meredith Jessica
WOW! I can't believe it's swimsuit season already (I knew I should have been better about those new years resolutions)! Just this last week I got an e-mail from swimwear website swimspot.com asking me to create a summery, beach beauty tutorial to go with any one of their super cute suits. I was in DESPERATE need of a new bikini so I eagerly agreed. It was hard to pick just one from their collection but I chose an adorable yellow laser cut bikini and created a golden, sunshine inspired look to go along with it. Take a look!
Golden & glowing! Since I never tan (no skin cancer for me, thank you very much) I wanted to show you guys how to skip the sun damage and fake your way to a beautifully bronzed complexion using just a few of my favorite bronzing products. Check out the tutorial here:
It's as simple as that, really! Pair your brand new temporary tan with warm, golden tones on the eyes and rose gold accents on the cheeks and lips to finish off the look. You will absolutely radiate warmth from within.
If you're wearing makeup for a day at the beach you don't definitely don't want to be overdone. Keep it surfer girl simple - a few shimmery shades will make your eyes sparkle in the sun and catch attention without being too crazy. Make sure to use waterproof products whenever possible as well, especially if you plan on going in the water. If your favorite mascara isn't waterproof - never fear! - Anastasia Beverly Hills' Lash Genius goes over any mascara and instantly makes it waterproof. I use it over everything!
A glowing summertime look needs tousled beachy hair, of course! Just mist your strands with water, twist it all up into a bun on the crown of your head and let dry for a few hours. When you take it down you'll get the instant effect of having spent the day surfing & sunning. Couldn't be easier!
Okay, so ... how CUTE is this suit!? The color, the cut, everything (it also comes in black if yellow isn't your thing). I was in love when I saw it on the site and I'm so glad it fits and looks good! I love that the lacy overlay adds volume to my upper body, making my pear-shaped figure look more proportional by evening out my chest-to-hips ratio.
However, if this suit is a bit too bare-it-all for you, never fear. The site has suits for every shape and style, from totally tiny to completely covered. See their full collection here and find one that fits your summer style! Happy shopping!
Hello beauties! Are you as excited for summer as I am? The weather in Canada is finally bright, sunny & wonderful so I took a walk in the park in my brand new chiffon skirt from choies.com. This gorgeous goose-egg yellow skirt is so light and airy it almost feels like you're wearing nothing at all (scandalous!) but the bright color is sure to catch anyone's attention. Take a look!
I know I'm going to be wearing this skirt a lot this summer. It's so easy to dress up or down since the color is so fun and funky but the length is very lady like, making it perfect for the park or the office, depending on what you pair it with.
FOREVER21 | Bow Necklace & Studded Tank
By the end I just wanted to kick off my heels, throw up my hair and enjoy the last of the day's rays. Don't forget to check out choies.com for all kind of amazing buys for summertime! Until next time! xoxo, Meredith Jessica
