Happy 2012 everybody! I hope you all had an incredible New Years, looked fabulous and had fun (I probably had a bit TOO much fun, if you know what I mean!). I'm starting 2012 off with a look that was recently requested by one of my previous Bloggers of the Month - Marla (of http://marlaandmakeup.blogspot.com/). I'll admit I was hesitant to take on Adele's signature look because I've never been great at mastering the art of simple, neutral looks but I gave it my best shot.
Adele's looks are always so simple, but so stunning. I would say the three things that come to mind when I think of Adele's makeup are: elongated liner, neutral tones and luxurious lashes. Her look is very consistent, and she seems to pull a lot of influence from the late 50's, early 60's - but with a modern update.
I made sure to have thick liner, big lashes and tried my best to match her flawless alabaster complexion. I think I succeeded on the first two but having eaten WAYYYYY too many sweets over the past three weeks of vacation, no amout of makeup can fix my angry dermis at the moment. So, I apologize for some of the unsightly blemishes in the video. Moving on though - let's check out some of the pictures:
I went ahead and filmed a tutorial for this look as well in case you guys would like to try it for yourself. It's incredibly easy - it only uses a few different colors of eyeshadow and they are shades that most people probably have. The trick to Adele's looks is that they are supposed to be very natural - so you should make the look work with (not against) your natural skin tone. For someone with darker skin than me (i.e. pretty much everyone, wahhhh so pasty) you'll probably have to edit your color selection a bit. The video also has tips for hiding blemishes, powdering your face and making dramatic eyeliner work best for you.
Hope you guys enjoyed it and thank you to Marla for the request - it was a lot of fun! If you have your own request feel free to leave it in the comment section or e-mail me at pigmentsandpalettes (@) gmail.com anytime! Adele thanks you for reading this post. :)

Just so you know.. Youve been the biggest inspiration to me! Your looks are one of a kind. Keep up the amazing work!

Fabulous tutorial, I'll definitely be giving this a go. Love that you started with a completely fresh face too. Keep up the great work :)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I so channeled her myself the other day!
ReplyDeleteP.s. Which colour correction palette did you use?
ReplyDeletehttp://allaboutchelseaclaire.blogspot.com/
dead on!
ReplyDeletewow.....Adele look is so gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Chelsea, that's so nice of you to say. You really made my day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really hope you'll e-mail me pictures if you do decide to try it out. I would love to see!
ReplyDeleteThe one I use is from a Canadian company sold exclusively at our local drugstores (Quo), but Makeup Forever sells an AMAZING color correction palette. Very expensive, but also totally worth it. If your skin doesn't look its best, even the best makeup won't look good. It would be like painting a masterpiece on a napkin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica
ReplyDeleteThank you. Simple, but still pretty.
ReplyDeleteI really like this look. I am going to give it a whirl. I am really bad applying false eyelashes tho :P. Good job!

Thanks for giving me so much tips in the video ;)
- MARLA :)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your reply - Do you have an opinion on the Graftobian Colour Corrector?? And I hate living in Australia sometimes!! Wish we had access to everything overseas!

ReplyDeleteThis look is amazing! Great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty look :)
ReplyDeleteVery Adele! Her makeup always looks amazing. And her hair... sigh. This look is gorgeous - and really suits you as well!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning! I love Adele's style... you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous!! But of course you know I love my neutral looks!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, no I've never heard of that brand. I would just try and do lots of research and see what other bloggers say about the products. They tend to have the most honest and accurate reviews.
ReplyDeleteIt can be quite tricky, I still struggle a lot of the time. I really like brands like FAUX lashes though. They have very stiff bands which are super easy to apply. QUO's lashes are quite flimsy and wobbly which makes it easier to screw up the application.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's funny you should say that because I really struggled with this seemingly 'easy' look. Everyone just has different talents I guess. I really hope you give it a try. If you do it, send pics. I would love to see!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I didn't think it would at first but I definitely agree now. A great look for round eyed ladies like myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! I'm hoping to get some GoT posts out soon. I've been swamped with company & user requests but I'm hoping to do Greyjoy, Tarth, Dondarrion & maybe a Wildling look, Nights Watch, or White Walker sometime in the future!
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's so sweet of you!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you like it. I was so nervous trying to make it live up to your expectations because I didn't want to let you down. Definitely not as easy as it might seem, lol. Thanks again for requesting it :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, she is so gorgeous. I tried so hard to do something "Adele-ish" with my hair but I'm absolute shit styler, lol. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHaha, this is true - and such a departure for me! But I'm always trying to stretch myself so I'm happy to see it kind of worked out and people seem to like it. There's always that part of me that's screaming NEEDS MORE GLITTER!
ReplyDeleteI do too, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Adele's looks are all so soft and beautiful and romatic. She has an amazing makeup/hair team!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope you found it useful!

How do you get your eyebrows to look so great?! My arch sucks. Some days they're alert and ready for actions, and other days they look like frowning caterpillars.
ReplyDeleteHow are you so freakin amazing at everything you do?? Gosh, if you weren't so nice and hilarious, I just might have to hate you! Just kidding! You can't hate someone just because they're beautiful and talented, it's not your fault you're so awesome.
ReplyDeletegreat blog loving the adele look
