Some of you may have already seen this look floating around on my Facebook page or Makeup Bee or Makeup Geek. I wasn't sure if I liked it enough to do a full post or tutorial on it so I posted it a few places to judge the reaction. So far the response has been fairly positive so I've decided to do a post for it. I think the reason I'm so hesitant about this look is because these aren't the kinds of colors I generally gravitate towards so I don't personally like the look. However, I had a request on my YouTube channel for a 'darker' look and I wanted to honor that request so when I got my new Makeup Geek palettes I decided to see what I could come up with. This is the product of my experimentation. It's not totally what I envisioned but it could have been a lot worse also.
This look reminds me of the foggy, dark swamps of the deep south. Even more specifically, it reminds me of the colors of the book cover for the novel, 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil', so that's the inspiration behind the name of this look. It's a mix of blacks, greens and golds that has a very eerie, spooky feel to it. Definitely not the kind of look that I would wear out but it's always fun to feel a little villainous every now and then.
Here's the Tutorial for the Look
I have filmed a tutorial for this look but I haven't finished it yet so there is one coming in the next week or so if you're interested in recreating it. Makeup Geek has actually asked me to film a series of tutorials for them using their eye shadows so I'm trying to come up with some looks that you guys will like that also show off the range and quality of their line. If you guys check out their product page and see any shadows that you like, let me know and I can work them into a look so you can see them in action.
